National Chess Academy Opens in Bishkek — 500 Schools Already Running Pilot Project

The National Chess Academy has opened in Bishkek. Cabinet Chairman Adylbek Kassymaliev attended the ceremony and toured the facilities prepared for the training of young chess players.

The Academy was established under two presidential decrees signed by Sadyr Japarov — "On Urgent Measures to Develop and Promote Chess in the Kyrgyz Republic for 2026–2030" and "On the National Chess Academy under the Kyrgyz Chess Federation." Its objectives are the systematic development of internationally competitive chess players and the identification and support of talented youth.

Kassymaliev spoke with parents of students and emphasized that the presidential decrees have given fresh impetus to chess development across the country. In parallel, a pilot project called "Chess in Schools" is being implemented in 500 schools across Kyrgyzstan for students in grades 3–5.
