China maintains a clear and consistent position on the Strait of Hormuz, stated Liu Pengyu, official representative of the Chinese Embassy in the United States. According to him, Beijing categorically opposes the militarization of this strategically important waterway, as well as any attempts to introduce fees for vessels passing through the strait.

The Strait of Hormuz connects the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea. A significant portion of global oil and liquefied natural gas exports passes through it, making it one of the key transport corridors for global energy trade.

China's position reflects its interest in ensuring freedom of navigation in the region: the PRC is one of the largest importers of energy resources from Persian Gulf countries. Beijing consistently adheres to the principle that international sea routes should remain open to all states without any restrictions or additional conditions.
