Kyrgyz film 'Kurmanjan Datka. Queen of the Mountains' screened in Argentina for the first time

The feature film 'Kurmanjan Datka. Queen of the Mountains' directed by Sadyk Sher-Niyaz was shown to Argentine audiences for the first time. According to the Eurasian Creative Guild (London), for many viewers, this introduction to this chapter of Kyrgyzstan's history was a genuine discovery. The screening was organized with support from the Yunus Emre Institute in Buenos Aires.

The event also featured the English-language book 'Kurmanjan Datka: Queen of the Mountains' by Kyrgyz author Bubayshi Arstanbekova, published by London-based Hertfordshire Press. Participants were told about the work on the English edition and how the book helps foreign readers gain a deeper understanding of Kyrgyzstan's history and the figure of Kurmanjan Datka.

The Eurasian Creative Guild noted that Kyrgyzstan became the first Central Asian country with which this large-scale international cultural project began. The series of film screenings and presentations will continue in other Latin American countries — ahead of the anniversary 15th Open Eurasian Book Forum & Literature Festival, which will be held in Argentina for the first time in October 2027.

The next event in the series will take place in September: viewers will be presented with the feature film 'Crying Steppe' by Kazakh director Irina Kunarova.
