Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that the EAEU will be able to discuss attempts by Western countries to draw Armenia into their orbit at a May summit.
According to Lavrov, May represents an optimal opportunity to consider this issue at the level of leaders of the economic union. The discussion concerns current challenges for EAEU member states.
Lavrov proposed discussing at the May EAEU summit the strengthening of Armenia's contacts with Western structures. Russia is concerned that the country could move out of the alliance's orbit under Western influence.
EAEU summit decisions could affect Armenia's economic relations with the union and its integration plans. If Yerevan is forced to choose between the West and the EAEU, this could impact trade, transport routes and investments in the region.
