Helium Cylinder Explosion at Arabella Mall in New Cairo Kills 3

Three people died and 17 others were injured, some with wounds, following an explosion of a helium gas cylinder inside a gifts and toys shop located on the ground floor of Arabella Plaza mall in the New Cairo area east of Cairo.

Egypt's Interior Ministry announced that the explosion sparked a limited-scale fire that civil defense teams quickly extinguished and brought under full control, noting that the blast wave caused material damage to the facades of several neighboring commercial shops.

On the judicial front, Egypt's Public Prosecutor issued immediate orders to arrest the shop owner and bring him in for questioning regarding the circumstances of the incident, while preliminary investigations confirmed that the source of the explosion was a gas cylinder. The competent authorities tasked teams of technical experts with inspecting the scene and determining the full causes that led to the incident.
