The Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office conducted simultaneous operations in 20 provinces as part of a new investigation into the armed criminal organization led by İsmail Atız and known to the public as the 'Caspers'; a public case was opened against 149 suspects, 95 of whom are in custody. The file was transferred to Bakırköy 19th Heavy Penal Court.
The indictment covers 12 separate criminal offenses including forming and managing an armed organization, membership in an armed organization, premeditated murder, attempted willful murder, aggravated robbery, threats with a weapon, forgery of official documents, and endangering public safety.
In the prosecutor's office's current main case, 295 defendants are already being tried, 72 of whom are children led into crime. The new case was opened through the expansion of independent investigations on the grounds that members of the organization's activities show continuity. The organization is alleged to be active in multiple provinces, primarily Istanbul.
