7-Story Cansever Apartment in Karamürsel Evacuated After Sounds Heard from Columns

Residents of the 7-story Cansever Apartment on Admiral Avenue in the 4 July neighborhood of Karamürsel district in Kocaeli reported hearing sounds coming from the building's columns and beams to the 112 Emergency Call Center. Following the report, AFAD, UMKE, municipal, and police teams were dispatched to the scene.

After an initial inspection, the building was evacuated as a precaution; 33 people residing in 14 apartments were evacuated. It was reported that only 1 of the evacuated families was placed in a teacher's hostel, as they had no alternative place to stay.

Karamürsel Mayor Ahmet Çalık told an Anadolu Agency correspondent that teams from the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change conducted an inspection at the building and deemed evacuation appropriate. Karamürsel District Governor Kemal İnan also visited the scene and received information from the teams.
