Kyrgyzstan to Launch Full-Cycle Wool Processing in Tokmok

Kyrgyzstan's Prime Minister Adylbek Kasymaliey visited the Kasiet worsted-spinning mill in Tokmok during a working trip through Chuy Region and reviewed a project to establish a full-cycle wool cluster.

The National Investment Fund presented Kasymaliey with a three-stage industry development strategy.

The first stage involves supporting small and medium-sized businesses: felt and spinning workshops. According to the cabinet press service, 27 projects have already been implemented, with grants and concessional financing totaling 57.5 million soms issued, more than a thousand farmers have been attracted to the projects with guaranteed sales, and over 100 jobs have been created.

The second stage is the construction of a primary wool processing facility in the Bishkek special economic zone in Tokmok. The project cost is 728.2 million soms. The technological line, using New Zealand-made TecNZ equipment, is planned to sort, loosen, wash, and dry raw material; wash capacity is projected at 2,176 tons of wool per year. The project includes 95 percent water recirculation and an annual output of 98 tons of pure lanolin. The project will create 205 jobs.

The third stage concerns the Kasiet factory itself. A complete production cycle is planned here—from top production to worsted yarn, suiting and overcoat fabrics, processing 1,440 tons of wool per year. According to the developers' calculations, this will increase the value added of the raw material by five to seven times.

The factory itself was established in 1971 and commissioned in 1977. With a designed capacity of 1,500 tons of yarn per year, it currently produces only 75 tons; 450 people work on an area of 17.06 hectares.

Kasymaliey emphasized the strategic importance of deep processing of domestic raw materials and creating value added for the country's industrialization.
