Emergency Land Seizures Become Regular Practice Rather Than Exception

Emergency land seizure methods, which were supposed to be used only in cases of emergency and urgent necessity, have become a common practice in Turkey, according to a report from Cumhuriyet newspaper.

The report indicated that the mechanism for rapid acquisition of private property is now being applied widely in current confiscation operations. Most government seizures are now carried out through this emergency method, raising concerns about legal protection of private property and procedural justice for affected citizens.
