Turkey announces readiness to demarcate maritime boundaries with Egypt
Turkish Defense Ministry confirms Egypt would gain over 15,000 additional square kilometers through negotiations with Ankara instead of Athens

Turkey's National Defense Ministry announced its readiness to conclude a maritime boundary demarcation agreement with Egypt, a step that follows a similar agreement Ankara concluded with Libya.
The ministry's spokesperson, Rear Admiral Zaki Akturk, confirmed during his weekly press briefing that the ministry reiterates its readiness to conclude this agreement, noting that according to the principle of mutual interest alignment, "Egypt would gain a maritime area exceeding 15,000 square kilometers" if it signs an agreement with Turkey compared to a potential agreement with Greece.
In the same context, the Defense Ministry welcomed the efforts of the central Iraqi government to strengthen state authority in the Sinjar region, considering that "ending the presence of terrorist organizations and tightening security agencies' control over security" represents a substantive development toward achieving lasting stability and realizing the goal of a terrorism-free region, emphasizing that the matter is being followed up in coordination with the concerned government bodies.
