Istanbul 1st Heavy Penal Court determined that Avcılar Mayor Utku Caner Çaykara no longer needed to remain in detention and ordered his release; Çaykara was freed from Marmara Prison. The decision was made as part of a detention review hearing in the Aziz İhsan Aktaş case.
IBB Chairman Ekrem İmamoğlu, who remains detained in Silivri, posted a message on his social media account following the release, stating "This oppression will end one way or another; all that matters is that the ballot box comes."
