The Ministry of Justice has activated new heavy penal courts in four cities. The decision of the Judges and Prosecutors Council was published in the Official Gazette.

As part of efforts to improve judicial services in Turkey, new heavy penal courts have been established in Sandıklı, Serik, Suşehri, and Ortaca. The decision taken by the Judges and Prosecutors Council has been announced to the public through the Official Gazette. Justice Minister Akın Gürlek clarified the decision to determine the jurisdictions of the courts in question. This development has been implemented with the aim of providing regional judicial services in areas far from central hubs, and is intended to increase access to justice.
Heavy penalty courts have been established in Sandıklı, Serik, Suşehri and Ortaca by the Ministry of Justice. These courts will now be able to directly hear and decide heavy penalty cases in their respective regions.
Citizens living in these four cities and involved in heavy penalty cases will no longer have to travel to major cities to follow their cases, court proceedings will move faster. At the same time, the workload of large courthouses will decrease and cases will be able to be concluded more quickly.
