Saudi Air Defense Intercepts 3 Ballistic Missiles Launched by Houthis Toward Eastern Region

Saudi air defense intercepted three ballistic missiles launched by Houthi militias toward the eastern region of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, according to an announcement by the Arab Coalition led by Riyadh.

The Civil Defense Directorate reported activation of the early warning system in the Eastern Region and Kharj Governorate, located southeast of the capital Riyadh, and alert messages were sent to residents' phones urging them to remain calm and comply with instructions from official authorities. Shortly after, the same directorate announced the "all-clear" in those areas.

The Arab Coalition stated in its statement that the "terrorist Houthi militias" launched the three missiles, with the statement making no reference to casualties or damage. No official confirmation has been issued regarding specific installations that were targeted or damaged.

Iran-backed Houthi launches of ballistic missiles and unmanned aircraft toward Saudi territory have been escalating in the context of the ongoing conflict in Yemen, where the Arab Coalition continues to support the internationally recognized Yemeni government since March 2015.
