Family Ministry Files Criminal Complaint Over Posts Targeting Young Trans Children

The Family and Social Services Ministry filed a criminal complaint with the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office over social media posts circulated with the headline 'We will be an example to young trans children.' According to information relayed by Anadolu Agency, the application was submitted today.

The Ministry requested that the posts be investigated and that those responsible be brought to justice. The Ministry has not yet disclosed which platforms the posts were shared on or how many accounts were included in the scope; the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has also made no statement about what stage the process is at.

Legal restrictions on LGBTQ+ content in Turkey have expanded noticeably in recent years. Various ministries have previously turned to Chief Public Prosecutors' offices in legal initiatives targeting social media in this area.
