Two police officers were among five suspects detained in simultaneous operations conducted across 16 provinces on July 27, and were ordered held in custody by the Erzurum on-duty magistrate.

The judicial processing of five suspects detained in simultaneous operations conducted across 16 provinces on July 27 under the direction of the Erzurum Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has been completed. The suspects, who were taken into custody as part of the investigation into Gülistan Doku, a university student missing since January 5, 2020, in Tunceli, were transferred to the Erzurum Courthouse following health checks. After giving their statements at the prosecutor's office, four of the suspects were brought before the on-duty judge of the peace court.
The court ordered the detention of two of the four suspects while releasing the other two with travel bans and judicial monitoring measures. It was learned that the two detained suspects are police officers. The fifth suspect's statement proceedings at the prosecutor's office are ongoing. With these latest detentions, coordinated by the Erzurum and Tunceli chief public prosecutors' offices, the number of detainees in the case has risen to 27. The case, which has remained unsolved for more than four years, continues to hold a place in public attention.
