Mehmet Pehlivan, a shopkeeper in Gaziosmanpaşa who attempted to break up the fight, died at Gaziosmanpaşa Education and Research Hospital after being shot in the abdomen during an armed clash that erupted on Thursday, July 30 at 16:40 on Tuna Street in İsmetpaşa Neighborhood.
The incident began with a verbal argument between Raşit Ö., who was sitting in front of a bakery, and Çiğdem C. (37), who was passing by with her 13-year-old daughter G.C. Approximately 25 minutes later, Çiğdem C. returned to the scene with her husband Enis Emre C. (38). As Enis Emre C. attempted to strike Raşit Ö., Raşit Ö.'s father Cemil Ö. (70) also became involved in the fight. During the altercation, Enis Emre C. fired shots at random with the pistol he was carrying.
Besides Pehlivan, Raşit Ö. was also injured due to assault and was taken to the hospital. Enis Emre C. was taken into custody in connection with the incident; the prosecution investigation is ongoing.
