President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, during a working visit to Toguz-Toro District, held a meeting with local residents, during which he ordered the district akim and representatives of the State Registration Service to immediately return land shares to the people and register them as private property, reported news agency Kabar.

During the meeting, one district resident told the president that he had been unable to obtain his land share of more than three hectares for nine years. Japarov acknowledged that such a situation is not isolated: in the past, certain aiyl ökmötü and akims in a number of cases sold the same land plot to multiple people simultaneously, which spawned protracted disputes over ownership rights.

The head of state called on representatives of the district administration and registration service to "resolve such issues, return land shares to their owners, and register them as private property," adding that these matters should be resolved at the local level.
