Cardiology Specialist Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Yolcu stated that increased red meat consumption during Eid al-Adha carries serious risk, particularly for people with cardiovascular disease. According to Cumhuriyet newspaper, Yolcu warned the public that uncontrolled meat consumption in the first days of the holiday can directly increase the risk of heart attack.
The expert stressed that cooking method also plays a decisive role in that risk, recommending grilling or boiling and simmering over frying. He noted that individuals who have previously suffered heart problems, or who have chronic conditions such as high blood pressure or diabetes, should restrict their meat consumption.
As Eid al-Adha drives red meat consumption to its annual peak, warnings from health experts remain as timely as ever.
A cardiology specialist warns that uncontrolled consumption of red meat during Eid al-Adha significantly increases the risk of heart attack. Those with heart disease, high blood pressure or diabetes in particular should limit meat consumption and prefer grilling or boiling instead of frying.
If you have chronic conditions such as heart disease, high blood pressure or diabetes, failing to control meat consumption during this holiday will create a serious health risk. While you can reduce risk by changing your cooking method, you must absolutely limit the amount you consume.
