Complaint filed against plastic-burning facilities in Mersin

Residents of Yalınayak and Şevket Sümer neighborhoods, located between Toroslar and Akdeniz districts in Mersin, have been complaining for years about the odor and pollution produced by waste plastic-burning facilities. Residents are demanding that these facilities be relocated outside residential areas. The neighborhood residents noted that the smell of earth has been replaced by the smell of metal, and expressed concern about environmental health. Initiatives are expected to be launched toward removing these facilities.
