TÜİK's July inflation data gave the first signal of January 2027 pension increase; minimum pensioner payment rose to 23,552 TL.

The Social Security Institution announced that it will transfer differential payments owed to pensioners under the base salary adjustment to their accounts on August 7, 2026. Pensioners whose core monthly salary, including supplementary payments, falls below 23,552 TL will have their pensions raised to this threshold with Treasury support; the differences will be transferred directly to salary accounts. In July, public sector pensioners received a total 13.52 percent increase including a 6.09 percent inflation adjustment, while SSK and Bağ-Kur pensioners received a 17.76 percent increase. The July inflation figures released by TÜİK served as the baseline input for the January 2027 adjustment; experts calculated three different scenarios based on central bank projections, but the exact figures depend on December inflation. A pensioner from Isparta told Cumhuriyet that his monthly salary was 27,000 lira and that he supplemented his income to 30,000 lira by collecting cardboard; this illustrates the practical inadequacy of the minimum threshold.
