Riyadh Arts University has begun its first semester for its inaugural student cohort, marking a turning point in the journey of culture and arts in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The university opened its admission and registration doors in May following a royal decree issued by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman in March that mandated its establishment. Minister of Culture and Chairman of the Board of Trustees Prince Badr bin Abdullah announced that the university received thousands of applications for its cultural programs and academic degrees before launching its first lectures, describing the level of interest as strong since registration opened.

Prince Badr wrote in Al-Sharq Al-Awsat newspaper: "The university launched with grand ambition, bold in its objectives, firm in its foundation."

The university represents a translation of the state's direction toward investing in human capital and the creative economy, as well as strengthening the Kingdom's cultural presence at both the local and international levels.
